re-occuring problem

Post by adzski »

hey,

well awhile back now i think in january my car was miss firing and feeling slugish with power and just running like crap.
i got it fixed and the following was done
. new rocker cover gaskets
. spark plug seals
. spark plugs
.timing belt, fan belt
. water pump
. spark plug leads

as of now we are in may and starting to notice similar symptoms of last time bast no where near as bad, but its not constant
.miss firing
.sluggish, not as much power

my service date is coming up and i was going to change
.the plugs front and back,
.maybe gaskets but withing that time frame theres no way they would be on there way out
and just the usual oil filter, and oil
. was thinking of running the stuff through the motor that cleans it not sure what its called.
.maybe fuel filter

what are your thoughts that are causing the problem? the plugs? maybe a bad coil?

Only 2 things you replaced to make any difference were spark plugs and leads.

Given you have a GR, I'd be putting my money on the MAF, or MAS, whatever the fudge the GR run.

Beyond that it'd be various sensors like o2, crank, etc.

Apparently the MAF/ MAS, which ever is a readily avail part, do a search, should result.
Edit: yeah, could also be a coil, they're easy enough to test.

I would try and eliminate the coil first. Check if we can measure the primary and secondary resistance of the coils and if it matches with the workshop specs.

Too used to carbys and first generation EFI where breadboards were used.
