Auto trans fluid
Just a quick question - whats considered the best auto trans fluid for the FTO? anything in particular or just whatever youd put in a similar car? and how much does it take - will a 4ltr bottle be enough? Looking at this one

I got mine off my mechanic. Think it was just a standard. Car will take anywhere from 5 to 6ltr. Depends how much you draon out.Taz wrote:Just a quick question - whats considered the best auto trans fluid for the FTO? anything in particular or just whatever youd put in a similar car? and how much does it take - will a 4ltr bottle be enough? I did a quick flush, only moved through the gears twice. Took about 3l. Fresh took his time the other week and put in about 5ltr..
I just had to add it ......

I think in that DIY he says there is only a couple of fluid types that u should use, so I've been hesitant to do mine.
Or am I wrong and is that Nulon ATF fine to use?

Re: Auto trans fluid
It conforms to a LOT of standards for each individual manufacturers so id assume so.
Hers the information on it:
http://www.nulon.com.au/products/Automa ... XMhJ7VvDAp
Conforms to these standards for mitsubishi - can anyone confirm this is adequate?

Sweet, I'm gonna go with it then. Is the filter the same as the oil filter?

The thread is the same which is why it works. But the propper filter is a shorter one. A good auto rep can look it up for you.
I will check to see if I can see the number on mine still..

Dextron 3. This has been covered plenty of times before and these tip boxes are hella sensitive to the wrong fluids.

It's Dexron, not Dextron. And yes, Dexron III is the correct fluid to use.Shhtuart wrote:Dextron 3. This has been covered plenty of times before and these tip boxes are hella sensitive to the wrong fluids.

Re: Auto trans fluid
I wouldn't use anything that "meets" several different standards. Just use a fluid that is made as Dexron 3.
But it should work.

That Nulon stuff is multicar use which probably means it's got a whole lot of additives in it that might not be useful/good for your tranny.
