Why storing liquids in the boot is a bad idea...
Derp.
I had a full bottle of new semi synthetic castrol magnatec and a half full bottle of coolant sitting behind the sway bar in the boot.
In order to stop them for moving I thought it would be a great idea to secure them with a spare car battery that I hadn't had the chance of chucking into a neighbors bin yet.
So long story short there was all those liquids over the boot, under the rear seats and a small pool in the rear foot well. The worst part is that the seats are made of foam
THIS ISN'T THE POINT OF THE THREAD.
There was a high pitch whine coming from my exhaust that I took as an exhaust leak. After I removed the back seats to clean the said oil it became louder and I realised it was coming from the fuel tank cover. I have come to the conclusion that my unsmooth revs and high pitch whine are the result of a failing fuel pump. I've had the habit of running the tank down to empty before refueling (#studentlyf) and I read this is bad for these fuel pumps.

Hang on.
So, is what you said above
If above, then the title is contradictory to the sentence beneath that line.
Oh, and yeah, sucks, next time secure them in a small freezer bag which prevents spillage. Great tip I was given years ago.
Re: the pump, I always run mine down, so....
And given most FTO owners I would say they would too, but for a different reasons.

Not the point, or below.Shhtuart wrote:THIS ISN'T THE POINT OF THE THREAD.

Best not run it down too low (if you have a choice) or you suck the crap off the bottom of the tank. This will clog the fuel filter at the very least. And most of us know thats a pain in the butt to change over. Case in point. I tipped the fuel out of one of the wrecks I had into a jerry can for the mower (why not use it right). Half way through mowing for the bonfire this year, the mower died. Clogged fuel filter.

Walhbro is only $120 delivered so that's alright. Can you clean the tank out from the top when you are changing the pump or is that a drop the tank out job?
