NGK Iridium spark plugs?

Post by fto12345 »

Hello,

To my knowledge, NGK doesn't make the iridium spark plugs for the FTO, but on the e-bay, they are saying they do. So I have asked the seller a question saying I didn't think they make them, and their reply was, we are already using it on our FTOs...

I worked in the accessories for cars for a while and I never knew they did make them.....
The only brand that I knew made them are denso....

any one any ideas? Am I just out of date? Although I have been looking for the for quite some time now!!!

They do make Iridium plugs for the FTO, just not for the MIVECs. They do make Iriways for the MIVECs though. Same benefit u get from the Irdiums, but they last as long as platiums.

NGK makes the Iriway 7 for the FTO, I had a set 2yrs ago, & now NGK won't sell them anymore.

Cause they reckon it won't run properly under Australia's environment

So there's no chance of finding them in Aus anymore?

I'm asking because my major service is coming up early next year and I would like to get some long-lasting better performing spark plugs. And obiously the IRIWAY 7s are a good choice. Are the Denso ones just as good?

UAS have done Dyno test on Denso's Iridiums and its produces a 4 KW gain. So i would say they work pretty well in FTO's :D

I knew NGK makes iridium for non MIVECs but didn't know about the iriway...

So it means you can get the iriway and it'll be as good. If not better?

Thanks,

I believe it's actually a 2kw gain. I'm pretty sure it's mentioned under the FTO Project link.

From memory, the GR one are shorter, or is it the other way around? Cause i ask NGK the same question when i first got mine from them, & the GPX spark plugs are suppose to be the same type as one of the BMW Motorbike.

2kw is not noticable! Anyway i guess a gain is a gain.

But after 140,000kms on my originals i put in Iridiums, noticed nothing!

so if you gained 5KW on spark plugs, that equates to about 3% increase in performance, you really believe it was noticable, or maybe a "placebo"?

so hows your pod filter set up? do you have proper cold air and ducting? If not performance gain would be the same, if not reduced.

Does any one know if those spark plugs sold by perfect run fit the gpx ones or not?

If it fits the gpx then I don't really need to look over at UK for a set for my gpx.

Please let me know if any one has any solid information. Not I think so...

Otherwise, I guess I will have to try and find out directly from them.

Thanks a lot!

I got a reply from perfectrun and they told me that the ones they keep don't fit the MIVECs.

So.....isn't there any real conclusion to this?

What can you upgrade to for spark plugs for a GPX???

Don't tell me no one with a GPX has upgraded their spark plugs?
And I'm sure not everyone got them from UK either!!!!!

Or is this such a simple solution that ppl won't even bother to share the knowledge????

Thanks anyway,
