Painting Throttle body
painting my throttle body and noticed on the can of the paint it says that it needs to be baked @ 200 before it is heat resistant and cured. is it ok to do this with the TB ? what heat can it withstand, theres the plastic bit on the side , does that need to removed?
also for anyone that has done this, did you use an undercoat? and a finish clear coat on top?

Re: Painting Throttle body
Well I have never baked any of the parts that I have painted in the bay and it has not come off or flaked.
The main thing you need to do is make sure that the surface is cleaned of all oil and grime ( use a prep soul or degreaser, even if it looks clean ) .
Cover all aras that lead into the unit so the paint will not gum up any moving parts or air ducts and so on.
As for clear coat I would not bother with it as it tends to yellow after time making the part look sh*t.
Hope that helps a little.

Re: Painting Throttle body
Get it sandblasted first. Cleans & roughs up the surface at the same time, giving the paint a good texture to bond to.
