foglights

Post by destinationtoby »

foggies stopped working. fuses and bulbs are fine but this seems abit suspect!(back of the foglight switch)
what caused that? and is it the culprit?

Known issue. You will need to put a relay for that switch. Check the DIY section, there's a guide for it. :)

Has anyone had any success in replacing the light inside the fog light switch?

it seems that the only what is to pull the whole damn switch apart.
I want to put LED in there so i never need to do it again

I don't recall it having one. Unless the GR's and GPX's have them in it.

Actually there is..... its a very small bulb.

I've opened up 3 fog light switches so far and all have had the bulb burnt out, probably for the same reason the switch melts.

    Thats the little F%#ker

i do believe the antenna switch has one also.

ive been searching the net for LEDs that may fit but have not found anything yet.

the problem is the resistor and diode that needs to fit in as well because its 12volt.

Jaycar have them, if they're the same as the dash lights.

They aren't the same as dash bulbs. The switch has two pins, the bulb has two legs that twist around the brown rubber holder. You need a very low profile led, you may have problems with LEDs that have an external resistor.

You could install the LED in the switch by itself, and cut the wire behind the switch and solder the resistor there. ;)
    Or use a SMD resistor.
    LED ALL the things.
