2.4L mivec?!

Post by pagan »

Just saw that commercial for the new mitsubishi people mover, cant recall the name, bug van. anyhoo, anyone know what the power of it is in kw, would it look anything like the fto engine.

HMM turbo charged PEOPLE MOVER MAUAHAHAH  no but seriously i was wondering about it, i thought of mivec as a sporty thing but oh well.
also was the fto the first mitsubishi to have mivec or the evolved form of it.
or am i just too damn bored and thinking up stupid things....

Up until this post I was thinking along the lines of: "hmmm, 2.4l V6 MIVEC... it's engine transplanting time"

The new series of the MIVEC engines are designed for fuel ecomony not for power. The next car with MIVEC will be the COLT/Mirage.

a MIVEC engine will allow for a flatter torque curve that won't drop away as much. For a people mover torque is of greater importance than power, hence why many use large 4cyl engines.

The different would be the same as the current Lancer 2.0 straight 4 engine & FTO GR 2.0 V6 engine.

if the lancer was a 2.4L Mivec tuned as high as the FTO engine it would be the better engine to have!

Cubic inches mean everything

hahahah good point, but then everything mean nothing, cause it all depends on the engine design.

exactly, thats why i said, if both engines were both equally tuned etc.

So what are the torque specs of the 2.4L? It might be a good option maybe for the GR guys? Im guessing more usable power guys! So maybe this new engine would be better than the KW specs stated.

how much does the FTO have? Isnt it around that? being 2.4L and being in a van, the usable power and torque would be lower in the rev range. Might be easier to live with but i doubt it would be as good as the 2.0L V6?

In Japan there is a 3Lt MIVEC V6 with 208KW for the Japanese spec Magnas. Or what about the 3.8Lt Mivec with 208KW form the EVO Pajeros. What about any of these engine swaps into an FTO??? :D

The short answer with the Magna and Pajero MIVEC engines, is no. If you want more info, there's a couple of threads which already cover this.
