Adjusting the idle level wont fix idling problems. Chances are the idle control motor (stepper) is f*cked.

Very rarely to do you need to physically adjust the screw.

As far as I know, the idle adjustment screw is only needed if your idle is constantly low or high (i.e. it idles at 1200rpm etc), as in not fluctuating at all. +1 to bennoz's comment.

Oh wow lol how embarrassing..

I guess ill do a ecu reset and clean the thottle body out today and see how that goes, if doesn't fix the problem ill get a new stepper, where is the idle screw suppose to be if it not where I took a picture

My idling goes high at engine start up but then drops down to around 300rpm when engine is warm and when I rev up when it goes back down it suddenly drop low and wants to clunk out haha

Okay stand at the front of the car
It's now behind the intake pipe down lower turn that screw and it'll turn the idle up or down via the accelerator cable don't do it too far though lol

You have to undo the nut to turn the screw and if it's that tight I doubt you need to turn it up
have you disconnected the battery lately? Looks like your car needs to learn to idle again...

my bad, didn't undo that nut how embarrassing

i clean the throttle body the other day and disconnected the negative terminal on the battery for about 30 minutes then put it back in and went for a good 30 minute drive but it was idling the same just took a bit to start up though.

should i disconnect the battery again and let the ecu learn how to idle, or should i adjust that screw?

You do realise that line just above 0rpm is 500rpm? Factory should be around 700rpm. You are around that.

Don't turn this! This is set in place from factory and doing this will screw up your idle if you don't know what you are doing! It will also put your TPS/APS out of adjustment.

If you need to fiddle with your idle speed turn the one in the first picture.

I've been having these problems in my red GR. I was stalling repeatedly when pulling up at the lights...In an auto? I adjusted my idle screw and mode my idle around 1000RPM and have since had no problems whatsoever... On the other hand, how much is a stepper motor and how long does an install take? Might replace mine to be on the safe side, so I don't have to deal with a head f**k later...

stepper motor probably take you 2 minutes to change over, cheapest i have found is for it http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/310456514251 ... 1423.l2649

but i scored mine off taz for $30 :D

mine a manual but guess work the same, i would adjust my idle screw but it screwed (no pun intended)

Yeah turning the idle up is not a fix. Having your car idle at 1000rpm is annoying though. Takes two minutes to change.

Okay fixed the problem with the Stepper Motor Taz sent me, Idle is so good now feel like i am driving a new car, no more jolts in gear shifting, best thing i have done for my FTO :D!

but i have one small problem when it cold and i start the fto it dies unless i give it a bit of gas until it warms up, should i just remove the negative side of battery and let the ECU reset so it can learn how to idle again?

I would give it a try, mine did the same thing after replacing the stepper but after resetting the ECU and letting it re learn it starts up first try.
