vibrationnnnnnnnn :( and the rest :D NEW ENGINE TIME UPDATE!

Post by Alexplicit »

oook... i dont want to get to in depth with whats going on at the present time, BUT ill summarize.

third party put in engine, third party wasnt 100 percent qualified to do said engine swap!

there's a few things wrong most of which me and Rob, (vectose) have rectified,

HERE IS WHAT WE DO KNOW IS WRONG!

1 gearbox bolt is threaded, one is loose,

on the subframe 1 of the 2 metal sleeves that sit inside the rubber bushings is missing ( on the front ) therefore i assume it isnt sitting 100 percent level

gearbox/engine mount ( passenger front ) is split, and definately needs replacing,

Stepper motor wiring... oh god were do i begin... <stepper motor DONT WORK ..

crank case ventilation vents to atmo. ( makes a funky whistle when turning car off :D )

HERE ARE THE PROBLEMS

Obvious idle issues due to not having stepper motor.

WHILST IDLING! in neutral, car is fine, however if clutch is pressed, it is A) slightly hard to get into gear, B) when you do get it into a gear PARTICULARLY 1st and R the car vibrates slightly?

obvious knock whilst harsh gear changes

and on take off shudders so bad you nearly sh1t your spine, not sure if this is also engine mount, or inproper procedure whilst installing clutch (ie, machine flywheel, or at very lease scotch pad it! )

EXTREME TAPPET NOISE... sound like a hectic mexican party going on in there.... hopefully will sort that out soon...

big thanks to Rob...

k go!

Also needs a new power steering pump

And the car can sit at my place for as long as it needs to.

I assume this line is a request of Dr PHIL069's master tappet skills.
1. Get the FTO going properly again.
2. Offer to shout Vectose and PHIL069 a day @ Newcastle Go Carts Go
3. Vectose and yourself strip the top of the engine
4. PHIL069 adjusts your tappets which may or may not correct your engine noises
5. Off for a day @ Go Carts Go

no name and shame.

at this point its amateur mistakes, and ill try my best to sort it out.

i know for a fact my best option is to bin this project and start again, but i really want to sort it out, or at least try my best to!

the bit of this car that really has me stumped, and what i want you guys to throw ideas at me about, is the vibration when the car is in gear with clutch in, i just cant seem to put my finger on it!

ive been assured that the engine itself is fine, and i believe that, seeing as though it came from a very high end user here, so really, the only things that could be wrong with the car, are user error install problems, and me and vectose have sorted nearly all those out.

so ill press on, until ive done everything i can do :)

Is Lawsos old car like Christine?

Those aren't amateur mistakes...

I second Bennoz statement. That car is not worth it.

just through a  on my comment to name and shame. Wasn't meaning anything nasty, I already knew the history (Phil's disappearing link)

All good.

But fix what you know is wrong first, engine mounts, missing bolts, etc.

Oh, just figured it out.
Should have listened to my advice.

All those things are relatively easy to fix, but you're going to be spending some money on doing it....

Good luck, hopefully it works out.

As for the vibration, fix everything else first, part of the shudder could be from other things throwing out the engine and causing that issue.

1 step at a time!

hahaa... its all good, at this point i still have a smile on my face and a will to work. im in no rush, and i have full faith that me and rob will make a car out of it yet :)

and im sure you guys will all be of great assistance :)

1 step at a time ill let you know!

im just hoping it isnt an internal gearbox issue.. it kinda feels like the clutch isnt disengaging 100 percent

so i might start there :)

You're probably going to want to pull the engine/gearbox out to re tap the thread for the gearbox and do your mounts, so check the clutch etc then.

If the vibration's still there after you change the mounts then I'd check tires and wheel bearings next.
