need help motor swap

Post by marshy1223 »

Hey guys I am doing a motor swap in my fto next Sunday and I'm clueless to know what to do.... can anyone recommend me what I should unbolt in order to successfully get the motor out? I'll have 3 other guys helping me but I Atleast want to get the old motor out before they come so we can just wack the new motor in... aiming to have the motor out sat night and new motor in Sunday.. possible? If so challenge accepted!

unplug everything.....

Sorry, but unless you have some clue, don't attempt.

Look up youtube videos on removing engines from FWDs, nothing really special for the FTO...

Ahk cause I highly doubt we can take the motor out , change gearbox then put it all back in in one day hey.? Possibly if we stay up a bit of the night? :/

It can be done.

If you know what you're doing.

It's not that much of a task.

3 from memory actually.
brake booster
MAS
charcoal canister diaphram.
:troll:

I'd wager more on them finding an extra plug with nowhere to plug it in to.

This

But seriously, if you want to give it a go, read the manuals, spend some time having a look at what goes where and what needs to be unbolted, then take your time. And if you're using an engine crane to lift it out I'd recommend someone to help. And much easier to take the whole engine & gearbox out together. Start reading now and give yourself all day Saturday to get it out. And make sure you have a nice big breaker bar or a rattle gun to remove the hub nuts.

Don't rush it and label everything and make sure you know where the bolts came from. Taking a million pictures also helps

I've been talking to 2 guys over the last week about engines that wont start, don't worry you're not alone

My retort usually goes like "It's going to be something you touched yes? Cause it worked before you touched it right? Go over all the plugs again."
