Ground Clearance

Post by Daniel2019 »

Does anyone know the amount of ground clearance from the lowest point of the car (crossmember/sump I believe?) on stock suspension, rims and a stock kit? Bit of an odd question but eh.

Cheers

Me. Although the reason Im asking is because im getting Matt's apexi GT springs which lower the car by 70mm and I was hoping they didnt lower it to under 100mm off the ground. Having said that, I think it may just be lower than that. I think they may be borderline impractical and its also illegal here in NSW.

Yeah that's what im worried about. That and the fact that its not just a couple mm under the 100mm law, it'll be real obvious.

    Ahhh!

I have 12cm clearance on the front bar and I can only get out of the driveway at work in one direction. 6 cm is half that..... The clearance of the cross member is not the best indicator as it is in-between the wheels though. What you really want to know is what your front bar clearance will be. If its less that 12cm, you are really going to have problems.

Is that with your custom front bar? With stock I dare say it should be OK.

@Sahin - If a cop is going to be an asshole and really wants to defect someone, then they can and will check all points under the car which is what I'm worried about.

Not saying I'm not gonna put the springs in, I'm just wondering how many extra shifts I'm gonna have to pick up to pay for all these incoming defect notices

With Dwayne's bar, I can just barely get out of my garage without it scraping twice! Once at the top and once at the bottom. Have to angle it a lot so it doesn't scrape. The lowest point of the bar is 12cm.
