My New Toy
Hey Fellas,
So after been a Mitsubishi fanboy ever since I was a little kid, always argued in school with friends over Evos Vs S15s and Skylines, some got V-tec on their school jacket I got Mivec lol... So I finally got my first one. Been a uni student I couldn't go all out and get an Evo straight away, so I got an FTO instead. Wanted one since the end of last year and been looking since then and finally found one.
It’s a GPvR 1997, Manual with only 130,000 on the clock. Bought it from a guy in Canberra who didn't know much about the history of the car but was very honest. The car has a few scratches on the edges that can easily be fixed and a minor oil leak. He originally wanted $7850 for it but we brought it down to $4900. The car is stock aside from the carbon fibre spoiler.
It just hit 130,000kms so gonna take it to the mechanic for a good service and fix any problems it’s got at all. What oil, spark plugs and leads should I get?

Re: My New Toy
Hehe, the owner was on here a little while ago trying to sneakily sell it.
Grats on the buy, hopefully it's a goodie.
there's a thread in the FTO help section for all types of parts you need.

Re: My New Toy
Wow, looks very clean!
Spark plugs I believe are Iridiums? (someone confirm?)
For oil, best to go fully synthetic if possible and it's 15w40 from memory (again, someone confirm?)
Welcome to the club mate!

Re: My New Toy
Thats a damb good price for a version R, especially with those kms. You did well. So are you in Canberra, or was that just where the car was?
Id love to have a look see if its still in the ACT (I work in Braddon).
Welcome to the club BTW.

Congratulations on your buy, man!
That's a brilliant price for a GPvR, $4900...Wow!!
Pretty sure the spark plugs are Iridium, and I just ordered a set of Magnecor leads for mine
Looks very clean, I be jelly!

Re: My New Toy
It was owned by a young guy who lived in Evatt, said it used to be his mates but he moved away and passed it on to him.
Transferring regos is such a headache from state to state even though it’s just Canberra. Rego ACT said I can't transfer it under my name unless I can prove I live in ACT. RTA on the other hand said I need to get rid of the ACT plates, buy new NSW plates, get a blueslip, greenslip and re-register it. Seems like such a waste considering it still has 8 months ACT rego.
