Fuel pump died 3 times in 3 month.......
Couple month ago fuel pump died, and about 2 weeks ago it died again. The machnic came and fixed it for free because it was still under warenty.
However last night it broke again =='' Im pretty sure its not battery cause everything eles was fine.
I noticed when he was fixing my fuel pump, the size wasent right and he was using 2 cable ties to stop it from moving.
He was on about I have the order one from Japan cause his after market part are incompatible for some reason.
Where would I be able to get a decent fuel pump that fits properly in Sydney and what might be the other problems causing this?

Ummmmmmmm, sorry, but are you sure it was the fuel pump?
If the pump died, it's dead, there would have been no 'fixing it' as such......
Cable ties, where?
Where was he working on the car?
Did he advise what he did to fix whatever the problem was? Despite possible mis-informtaton of Fuel pump.

LOl yeah first 2 times NRMA said fuel pump wasent working and he got a new one, and then the replaced that one again so yeah.
I just went to start the car, it magically decided to work again =='' then i called him and he was on about how the alarm or somshit caused it.
Then I called the alarm guy and he was saying none of his problem ==''
now im back to calling the machanic....
And how the machanic is on about how some wire could of broke == and yeah, since the car starts occationaly and yeah, so his telling me to make a booking at Mitsubishi dealer and indentify the problem. Now his just sure its not fuel pump and some wiring problem and telling me to get to an auto electician ==''

Hmm, sorry, not getting the full story.
1. Highly doubt it's your fuel pump, fuel pumps simply don't do what you are describing.
2. The Alarm installer saying not his problem, I dare say it means he will not fix it, not that the alarm is not to blame.
3. You need a more competent mech by the sounds of it, he should be able to diagnose why a car will not turn over.
4. It could be your Alarm.
But where was this mech of yours in the car with a bunch of cable ties?

I doubt it was the alarm guy, he literally said if he installed it, then it shouldnt be a problem. He didnt even explain why ==''
Yeah I do lol, but since it was under warrenty so atleast need to get this fixed by him haha.
Well the alarm guy is deniying everything so, would i need to go to mitsu and find the problem? So its probably some wiring problem somewhere?

Alarm installer sounds like a di*k to me. He can't garauntee it's not the alarm without testing it. All electronics can fail.

What, an awesome dealer warranty where the mechs know as much about cars as my wife?Xeno wrote:Yeah I do lol, but since it was under warrenty so atleast need to get this fixed by him haha.
Alarm guy sounds like a punce, it COULD be the alarm, but then again, it could be a combination of things.Xeno wrote:Well the alarm guy is deniying everything so, would i need to go to mitsu and find the problem? So its probably some wiring problem somewhere?
Hard to give a diagnosis online with little detail.
Full stop, the warranty you have is worth nothing, take it to a proper mechanic.

Re: Fuel pump died 3 times in 3 month.......
Im with Astron Boy with respect to the cable ties. The fuel pump is normally in the fuel tank, and you wouldnt go near that with cable ties. Is the aftermarket one in tank as well, or is it in the line somewhere and if it is in the line somewhere, im guessing hes using cable ties to hold it in place. If its in line, easy to see if its a pump problem. When the car does not start, is the fuel pump getting 12V from the live wire that connects to it?. If yes, then there is a pump issue. If no, then the issue is somewhere else.
And if it is inline, how is he pulling fuel out of the tank if the in tank fuel pump is screwed as the hose does not go to the bottom of the tank to draw in fuel (in tank fuel pump normally does that bit)

Re: Fuel pump died 3 times in 3 month.......
LOL the car alarm guy was like I can check it for you for $60 but he was like even if i dont find the problem I still have to charge --''
Yeah I think its time to like find a decent machnic. Anyone can recommend any to diagnose the problem first?
And pretty sure fuel pump he gave me was smaller than the OEM one ==''
Or anyone here good with wiring and stuff like that and can have a look at it? o-o
Yeah its a intank fuel pump and he was using cable ties to hold it in place LOL, well im not sure neither one of my machnic knows wtf they're doing ==''
Im thinking of getting it diagonosed by someone and see if I can get a refund for my pump and I shall go buy a decent one or something, Since im pretty sure he gave me a smaller one than normal.

If its physically smaller, that doesnt mean anything. It could be a more powerful pump with a smaller footprint. If its smaller from a functional perspective, then that is a different story.

Re: Fuel pump died 3 times in 3 month.......
LOL did I mention the car is perfectly fine again =_='' im just waiting for it to f**k up again
***********UPDATE************
Drove the car fine for the day, then it dies at a friends house. Instead of not starting, its like Startes then the revs eventually drops to 0 then dies again..... and if i press accllerator it dies even faster. Then it progressed to VROOOM then dies ASAP....
Stuck in the middle of nowhere in 3 hours.... and when my friend came to pick me up it decided to start.... and works perfectly fine...
Story of my life.

Re: Fuel pump died 3 times in 3 month.......
Does the car die while driving or you just cant start it?
When you turn your car to the "on" position of your ignition can you hear it? Sounds like a small electric motor.
Next time it goes on you, take the panel off the fuel pump and give the panel where the fuel lines come out of the tank a few hits with a hammer and see if it starts.
Any competent mechanic will be able to hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the FTO and tell you on the spot if its your fuel pump.

Re: Fuel pump died 3 times in 3 month.......
Took it to another machnic, it decied to die infront of their driveway LOL just my luck.
He didnt really use any gauge nothing, but end up he diagnosed it was fuel pump. I dont even know how he came with that conclusion =='' where do I find those competent machnics lol.
So like, he rekon the after market pump fitted by the other machanic was sh*t, and the old machanic wouldnt give a refund...==''
anways, would you guys know where i can get like walbro pump or something decent that actually fits properly?
