Post by Gyro-3 »

Hey does anyone know how to change the fuel filter. I have the part. I got it from autobarn. It's a cooper efi filter part number wz441.

You will need:
14mm Flare Nut Spanner for the bottom flare nut
19mm Spanner for the top bolt
12mm Spanner or socket
10mm Spanner or socket

Step 1. Remove the bottom rear seat cushion, and you will see a plate in the centre held on by four screws. Remove these four screws and then disconnect the connector from the fuel pump. Start the engine and allow it to stall on its own.

Step 2. Remove the intake pipe and battery to gain better access to the fuel filter.

Step 3. Undo the bottom flare nut using a 14mm flare nut spanner. (I did this from under the car but it is possible to do it from above.

Step 4. Undo the top eyebolt using a 19mm spanner.

Step 5. Remove the two 12mm bolts holding the bracket to the firewall.

Step 6. Remove the old filter and bracket from the car and loosen the 10mm bolt that holds the fuel filter in the bracket, Put the new filter into the bracket and tighten up the bolt.

Step 7. Put the new filter and bracket back into the car and tighten up the two 12mm bolts.

Step 8. Tighten up the bottom nut with the 14mm flare nut spanner.

Step 9. Place the two new copper washers you should have received with your new filter onto both sides of the eyebolt and then tighten it up to the filter using the 19mm spanner.

Step 10. Reconnect the fuel pump, intake pipe and battery then start the car and check for leaks.

Locate old fuel filter
(on the firewall in the middle, directly behind the Intake manifold)
With the filter still in the bracket, undo both top and bottom fuel lines
Undo bracket and replace old filter with new one
Bolt the lines back in with the new washer supplied with the new filter and make sure the lines are tight!
Now wash your nice smelling hulk hands

Still at that stage where i just love working on cars. Hopefully this will last for a long time to come.
Seems like all the people needing work done are in NSW, literally no-one up here (apart from phi) needs any work done, or doesnt want to get things done through me and would rather pay 5x more for a mechanic to do them. :(

Daniel can be your apprentice, AKA flywheel remover.

When you see that they are, and you will, tighten them moar

Hoping to have my papers about January 2013, that would make my apprenticeship 2 years 10 months long :P
Being heavy plant though, I would be silly not to go to the mines and earn a small fortune :money:

Im great at taking things apart, but when I put things back together I seem to always have things left over

Once I start my apprenticeship the overall plan is for a performance shop similar to I guess pulse racing. Got a bit of money to start it up.

But first I have to learn how to identify a flywheel ;)
I fix cars.

Thanks guys. I'm located in Sydney. Sorry!

I'm also changing my volt meter. I have a 52 mm. Is it easy to put it on? I don't know what to replace my clock?
