can i take of those weird window surrounds?
Hi, i'm just wondering if i can take off those weird window surrounds from around the tops off the door windows? And is it just normal window seal under it or would i have to put a new seal on there?

Those are rain guards. Don't know about taking them off.

Reckon the windows would leak without them? Also the brackets attached in rear speaker covers, are they just baby seat clips? Could take them out or do they hold the speaker covers in?

They won't leak
I don't have them on my FTO now an I want them
And nah there's more then that holding the speaker cover in...
You can take the baby seat clips off but there'll be two holes in the top of the speaker cover

My GPVR has never had the rainstrip and it's never leaked, although I do get a tiny bit of wind noise but nothing loud music couldn't coverbobby_g wrote:Reckon the windows would leak without them? And the baby seat restraints need to be there for compliancing. It's a legal requirement in some, if not all states. Haven't known anyone to be defected for not having them in, but I know here in SA they can defect if they want to be a-holes

These are factory option parts, they are not needed on the car.
The window will not leak if you remove them.

To clarify, the metal bit underneath the rubber has to stay, but the rubber bit can come off. If you take it off though, youll have to prep/paint the metal bit underneath.

Are we talking about the rubber or the wind shield thing?

The rubber wind sheild things. I took them off and painted underneath and looks so much better. Sahin if you want them you can have them otherwise i'll throw them in the bin.

Theres heaps of crap and old tape and glue under them. I used wax and grease remover and a scaper and worked a treat
