Windscreen wiper mark on windscreen

Post by Xeno »

Ive got deep windscreen wiper mark on my windscreen and Ive tried plenty of things andit dosent come off. I went to super cheap autos and they told me im not able to get rid of the abrasion mark from my screen. Does anyone know where i can get someone to polish the mark off? Or what materials i need to get rid of them myself.

Thanks heaps

take it to a windscreen repair place like obriens or something that does chips, maybe they can help, or you may have to replace it

Pretty sure cause the only thing that i cant get rid off is the mark from windscreen wipers. o-o ill put up a pic tomorrow

Dont think Obrian can do it, its not really a chip. Supercheap auto guy said its from sand stuck in wipers and it scratched the screen or something.

Dont really have the budget to replace the screen so im just looking for some cheap way to deal with it o-o

cant actually tell where or what the mark is in that picture, someone point me in the right direction? hah.

if its really bad, obrien can replace the windscreen for $300-400 for what they told me was a custom one they made up themselves. the bloke also said they could replace it with an original FTO windscreen for $500-600ish depending on availability, etc. from mitsubishi.

not really sure what else you can do apart from replace it if its real bad.

Have you tried polishing it with a buffer? might work.

There is such a thing a glass polish, but you'll only be masking the problem.. and probably masking it once a month to keep it stopped.

I've got a spare windshield if you want. Can do you a cheap price, you just need someone to fit it.

I have a huge scratch from my wipers on my windscreen.... right in the center of my view too.

I'm just going to learn to live with it I guess...

New windscreen mate. But I guess an Fto windscreen retails for 5 x the price of other windscreens I'm guessing.

It cost $130 to get a new commodore windscreen installed and the service is mobile so cheap for comparison.

Mine was quoted at $200 to $300 for a replacement (not original, one that gets made up) or $300 to $400 for an original, pending availability. This was at Obrien, by the way.

Try Selleys Quik Strip. Its actually a paint remover.

Was sprayed painting my wiper arm and the some paint particles landed on my windscreen. Applied a thin layer of the quik strip(its a clear gel) on the windshield with its built-in bristles. The gel is not watery so it will not drip down. Leave it for 10min and wipe off with paper towels. Believe it or not, the windscreen is became clear as hell! It simply removes everything from the window surface.

try it. its sold at bunnings for a few bucks.

Be careful not to touch any plastics(including headlights and rera lights!) or rubber as it will haze it.
