Good place for manual conversion? Quoted $990

Post by Akys »

As some of you had already know, I am going to get Lawso's manual conversion of him once he pull it out, I will be needing someone to the the conversion for me.

Went to Ben's place and saw all the things he had to do, definitely not something I can do myself as I am not very good with engine and gearbox. And I am pretty sure Ben wont want to do another. reference to that ->

Well, its not a job i would want to take on, one man, one weekend. It's taken me 3 full days & the better part of 3 afternoons this week to do it. And after doing all the up under pedal stuff, I think I've slipped a disc

So, in summary, those of you who wanted me to do your manual conversions - :thebird:
So can anyone suggest a good place for me to go to for the manual conversion and also i'll prob get a quote for an engine rebuild /swap( really want the car to run like a dream).

I'll try meek automotive soon. Prefer to be western Sydney area.

cheers guys

Any good mechanic worth a grain of salt would be sufficient, its not something that few mechanics have ever faced and would be guessing at it, its a relatively normal car and pretty basic compared to the sh*t theyve most likely seen.
I dont live in sydney, so i dont know any places, but there is a sticky thread on reputable places, try searching that.

GPC (Good Performance Center) in Yennora did my FTO to Lancer swap so they should definitely know how to do this

I've ask a couple of places around my area. they say they can definitely do it but have not try on FTOs. I assume that means I'll have to pay more labour as they need some time to mock around. Thats why Initially I was hoping Ben and some club member can help me with it. Haha

This is true, i tired four mechanics to get my gasket replaced and none of them would touch it because it was a v6 which meant far to much work. Considering they all charge 70 to 90 an hour if it was me i'd jump at the opportunity.

And exactly how many mechanics do you think there are in Sydney, that have actually done this job before?

I'd say you could count them with one hand.

At the end of the day, its just another Jap car! f**k, if I can do it, your local Lube Mobile guy can do it!

Was closer to Envy (Brookvale) back then, so I'd assume down there... I dunno, can't remember.

You mean auto trans wiring block off for ignition?
should do, simply a couple of wires for signal.

As far as electronics go there are only 4 wires to fiddle with. 2 you join, the other 2 you wire into a reverse sensor plug. Thats it.
