Was gonna say, got fuel? Got spark? Any history on the car? When did it last work? What happened when it stopped working? All sensors plugged in like cam & crank angle?

Yes you need to check fuel, spark and error codes. Then come here and tell us the outcome and we can help you further. I also take it that it is winding over, just not starting?

theres not much history with the car. the fellow rekons the person who owned it before hanged the tappets. and he has put a fresh tank of fuel in it. but it hasn't run since he brought it. i'm just putting together some fgures to make him an offer. he paid 2,100 for it. its a 95 mivec gpx auto, 230,000 odd k's needs a paint job with some repairs and some interior work so yeah i can do the body and interior i'm not just 100% sure on mechanical stuff

Well you also said you can't use the scan tool unless it is running. So let me get this straight you want us to diagnose the vehicle over the interwebs and then get emotional when you don't get the exact answer your looking for? If you knew anything about cars you would know what your asking is ridiculous. There could literally be 100 things wrong. Oh and I don't mean to be rude

Orly? Geez I might have to work on my people skills. I'm sorry just not use to talking to the retarded and as for "surely everyone doesn't need error codes", why did you buy a scan tool then? That just really shows your intellect right there really, considering you don't even need a scan tool to check error codes. You can check them for free yet you still shelled money out. Fkn lol.

It's in the forum, which IS the humor section.

Honestly though CHR15, you will be hard pressed to get THE answer you are looking for by simply giving a very vague description online.
No forum anywhere will be able to tell you what the problem is unless they were to diagnose the car with the normal series of trial and error.
The first couple of posts gave you a starting point, to which you even suggested.

Error code or not, you're at a fair stretch from getting any further help without giving much more details beyond 'won't start'

Good luck.
