Now with the 6a12tt conrods (off the twin turbo galant, yes im not talking about 6a13tt if anyone asks ) are they stronger than the fto's ?
Cause i know the big and small end of the conrod are the same diameter and length as the fto, 6a12, 6a12tt but heard the 6a12tt are stronger.
Does anyone know for sure ? sounds like it should, but just want to know if anyone knows ?
(Also reason i ask i will be selling a set of 6 6a12tt that can be used on the fto soon and thought if anyone is rebuilding there engine this would be a better opinion)
Can anyone remember if the stroke length is the same?
Having said all that, they can take extra power. I ran a 100hp hit of nos through an FTO motor & it held up fine over many a track day (until my dickhead mechanic opened up the solenoid too early in the rev range on a dyno & blew it to peices...)

i was looking into buying forged units from the U.S at the start of the year when i was toying with the
idea of rebuilding a second block.
Conrods are exactly the same, pistons differ.
strength wise of the stock units i wouldnt have a clue if one is stronger than the other.
If there is a 6a12tt why is a turbo conversion so difficult on the 6a12 mivec? And why does no one go for turbos from the 6a12tt?
(betting I'm going to get answers along the lines of "read the turbo section", )
Yeh I though I read it somewhere, so I'm guessing the turbo parts couldn't be adapted in then?
6a12TT is the other way round. Yes, everything can be done with money.
You can get 6a13TT drop in straight.
Or, ended up spent more on 6a12TT with custom this, custom that, relocate this, relocate that, turn around this, turn around that, match this, match that, and still get less power than 6a13TT.
Cost more but less power than 6a13TT. It makes no sense to go 6a12TT.

Fair enough Thanks
I was just wondering.. haha
if only there was a simple way to turbo..

True, but still its 30kw regardless how you look at it and once you add more boost over the standard about 7psi there more of a difference - i know i feel it - lol, and im not dis'n the mivec, they are a excellent n/a engine, plus there all mitsubishi so all good there !
Back to the rods, interesting they might be the same .... cause my source came from someone that knew the 6a12 engines like the back of his hand, unless he was comparing it to the standard non-mivec ..
but ..
so does anyone know if the standard fto non-mivec are the same as mivec conrods ?

yes they are.
and i also confirmed they are exactly the same to the 6a12tt
i looked into all of this in great detail when thinking of a engine rebuild!!!
I don't doubt valandis has already researched this thoroughly, but easy way to put this to bed, post up your chassis number GT and we'll look it up in ASA. If someone also wants to post up their non mivec FTO chassis number as well we can then confirm all three
