Just thought you all might like to know that I am going to Oran Park for a ride in a V8 Supercar tomorrow.
Anybody else done this? Should be an experience to remember!

In a word - amazing. You cannot believe that they are throwing around such a big heavy car at that spped through the corners.
3 cars were on track at each run, and while there was a certain amount of "staging" to ensure the best experience, they were not exactly mucking around.
Even warming the tyres was an experience. You see them doing it, but in the car, it is quite a different perspective!
It gives you a whole new respect for all professional racing drivers. Most people fancy themselves as a driver, nothing strange about that. However, there is no way that any "normal" person without considerable motorsport experience could jump into a car like that and get anywhere near these guys.
True, you did kind of get used to it after a lap or 2 (you get 5 hot laps, plus your in and outlap).
If you get the chance, go and do it! It will change your perspective completely.
But if that was "only" V8's, I cannot imagine what a 2 seat F1 ride would be like!
Amazing, incredible, and immense fun!

Congratulations MRX, sounds like you had a great day. Did anyone see RPM today. The thing about the michelin experience was very interesting. ALthough I'd think you'd have to prove a fair bit of driving talent and a lot of money to get to drive those F1's.
I've done the U-drive formula ford school that holiday shows and some mags have done. I had a great day but found the old breaking down car that I had a big disappointment. And jumping straight into a formula ford for my first experience of a straight cut gear box in a car everyone in our group was struggling with that eventually gave up the ghost was a bit dissappointing. Still has reared me up to get competing and get down to WIllowbank for future driving training days.
