Rear wheel really-really HOT, ? breaks?

Was driving home this afternoon about 20 - 25 mins and just before home noticed a "creaking" sound as I breaked when slowing to a stop, seemed to be coming from left rear area...
Got home, checked the area and the left rear wheel was really hot, too hot to hold a hand onto, I suspect break issues and will have it looked at tomorrow but thought I'd suss you you guys out too.

The car drove normally otherwise, no pulling to one side or lack of breaking power. I wasn't caning it at the time. The hand brake wasn't left on and works normally when stopped. Can't see any other miscief with it really.
any ideas or tips most welcome

FTO brakes can get very hot... the creaking sound might be a sign that you have run out of pad on that brake.

(mental note: replace front pads on my car)

that's different....

if the wheel itself was hot (and hotter than the otherside) i wouldn't say its breaks it could be a wheel bearing that's on its way out...

if it was the breaks, the wheels shouldnt be hot, and the car would be harder to break or might not break at all

maybe the tyres wearing out?

Tyre's are in great shape.
There was no apparent loss in break performance.
Thanks for the replies, wheel bearings? hope I havn't damaged anything..

Hopefully won't be too expensive.

Went TGS performance today, problem solved.
The right rear brake caliper had seized thus the left rear was doing all the work at the rear, hence the heat.
Caliper freed and pads replaced

did they just unseize the piston?? Did they rebuild the caliper?
