Just noticed that when i come to a stop I can hear a bumping sound coming from the fuel tank..
it coinsides with the fuel sloshing around in the tank.
Short of some one putting somthing in the tank, what could come loose that's allready in there? I'm thinking maybe the fuel pump strainer.
Any thoughts?

Quite possibly the strainer. Its not exactly held in by much, just sort of press fit into the base of the pump.
The only other things it could be, the lower bracket section that cradles the pump, or the fuel gauge level thingy. Its only held onto the underside of the tank lid by 2 phillips head screws.
All become obvious when you lift the tank lid. The stuff can't go far, the whole pump / level area is baffled off from the rest of the tank.

It actually sounds like it can move all over the tank. Depending on what corner you have just gone around.
Maybe it's found a way around the baffles.
The level sender appears to be still working, that was the first thing I started to watch.
Whats the inverted valve thing in the center of the top of the tank? Any chance of that loosing bits?
Do you think if I pull the pump I could see beyound the baffles into the remainder of the tank?

You might be able to. I was having a look around mine just the other day when trying to fit a bigger pump in there. I just used a torch.
There's only really 4 things on the lid, the line out (connects to fuel pump) the return line (simple fixed line) the electrical plug (wires for both the gauge sender & the pump) & the gauge sender itself.
Well it turned out to be the baffle.
It came loose from the tank floor. Had to cut it into tiny little bits and remove through the fuel pump hole. I'll see how the fuel surge affects the pump but may have to look for an other tank. Dstocks?

Oh and thanks for the how to strip the old fittings out of the fuel hose from the pump. I managed to fracture the hose trying to unscrew it from the pump and had to remake the hose.
FYI. you got to undo the other end of the hose first or you will screw the it up like a pretzel.

Yep, I forgot to mention that Runied a few perfectly good hoses myself before that learning curve
So have the spot welds just come off or has it rusted? I saw a tank cut up the other day by that fella in Lima. Was rusted up good & killing his fuel pumps.
No just the spot welds. The tank looks perfect, not a sign of rust. I even checked the spot welds on the baffle, no sign of metal trauma (weird).
And a note, not to over tighten the hose fittings, you just need to nip them up. When I removed the hose to remake it i had use locking pliers on the 14mm nuts again and i didn't over tighten it when i put it back on the first time.
