f**king baby seats

Post by spency »

I've been trolling forums the last week lookin for a thread about where to mount a baby seat anchor, to no avail.

If anybody has some info on where to put it, that would be epic. I'm thinking about taking the rear seats out and looking around there. Just need a poke in the right area!

Has to be in by 7am :/

Compliance adds them.......

Those annoying hooks in the back where the speakers are.

Then thats where they should be. Previous owner probably removed them. Pretty sure you can buy them from Supercheap type stores. Its just a length of threaded tube welded to a plate. Then its just pop riveted to the underside of the parcel shelf.

Underneath the parcel shelf, near the speakers, are there 4 drilled holes?

I already had the anchor. Took the trim off the parcel shelf and put it through a hole in the shelf already. Cramped as f**k driving now! 188 cm tall and now have as much room as an elephant in a mini. c**t of a thing.

There is no anchor points in the FTO for a baby seat, they need to be put in. RACV fitting stations can drill the hole in your parcel shelf and screw the bolt in (costs about $100 for memory)...or the other option which is still legal and safe is buy the anchor kit from Super Cheap (is Mothers Choice brand and is about $7) and DIY which is very easy; you'll need a drill a bolt and maybe some spacers. Brenton (Brent88) did the whole DIY to put the car seat in, so he'd be able to tell you more (I just watched) If you want photos I can grab the ones off his phone, which should help you install it.

Yeah but you shouldn't have to DIY. Child seat anchors rated at 35kgs should have been put in as part of the compliancing process on all FTO's. That was under both the old SEVS & RAWS complaince schemes.

Admittedly, a lot of people do take them out

But then I put them back in to stop the speaker shelf rattling

very true! law states any cars past 1994 has to have anchor points, i just put it down to some sort of exemption because it's an import.

My son loves going in the FTO though, he thinks is awesome that he gets his very own foot rest and he can sit so close to the drivers seat, where in the skyline he feels like he's miles away
