In real terms, what is the power increase from getting an aftermarket cat-back system (say the HKS)? Also, is there much benefit from getting a high flow cat? I have searched the threads on this, but there has been no real answers.
I know it will be of some benefit (obviously), but it seems Mitsubushi did theur homework pretty well when extracting power from this unit.
It may seem like a basic question, but has anybody got any quantifiable answers?

You'll notice the difference but don't expect any huge power gains. At most you'll probably get around 4-5kws more power out of a cat-back system on a NA car. On the other hand, getting a exhaust system fitted to a turbo will bring significant gains.
As for the cat, can't really comment. Opinions seem to be mixed though, with people saying you'll get gains by going to a hi-flow while others will tel ya it's a big waste of cash.

fitting a high flow cat will yield some gains no doubt, but not enough that you will feel the difference on the road anyway... the gains are marginal at best, if anything...
just to give you an idea, Toni's FTO (SXCFTO) is mechanically stock as a rock and pulled around 96kw at the wheels (from memory).
however on the same dyno my car pulled 105kw with exhaust and pod air filter (106kw with a tuned AFC).
i'm not sure what the gains are at the flywheel but usually i would assume a 30-35% drivetrain loss for a FWD.
Also note that both cars are GPX manuals.

But i think that she was only using unleaded fuel 91rons, while u using 98rons fuel. Then again there shouldn't be more then 2kw different between the fuel.GPXXX wrote:just to give you an idea, Toni's FTO (SXCFTO) is mechanically stock as a rock and pulled around 96kw at the wheels (from memory).
