Unqiue CAI is worth about 6kw ($395.00)
unqiue engine pipe's are worth about 6kw ($595.00)
highflow CAT (250.00 + install)
properly designed custom good exhaust (700.00 + )
Mivec controller 2-7kW depending on the tuner (cost plus install / tune about $1000.00)

learning how to launch (put it in tiptronic, foot on brake, foot on throttle -what) launch -a good launch is everything

ummm....

we are working on exhaust cams which will be hopefully a good gain and i will be able to report back on these in a week or so.

oh !
hitech mufflers told me something about a catback system dat gives 15% power gain
is 980 for it worth it?
i can almost get HKS superdragger for that price!
just need some opinions before i go hardcore in modding the car !
i finally saved 5k ready to roll on my fto !
(but its tip dats why i want to trade for manual)

i personally don't really like hitech and any claims of 15% gains on a FTO are rubbish! (unless there is a dyno to prove it)...

the tip i gave before is how to launch a tip (i have one)....

ummm all group buys are cash only... no credit cards allowed.

paying me in person makes accounting really hard... i prefer internet only transactions so your name is in it and makes it easy to track.

btw mate you should come along to our next cruise (not mallacoota as we're booked out big time) ... but the next sydney cruise... we can chat and you can look at other cars and make an informed decision on what you want to do to your car...

and i'll take you for a drive and show you what a few grand's worth of mods do to a tip ;)

for $5K, i'd get a tuned ECU, custom cams, CAI with a complete exhaust system (extractors, front pipe, high-flow cat and 2.5" cat-back) and maybe a mild port & polish job on the heads...

Personally i'd save up just a little bit longer and get a turbo conversion done - if you use some 2nd hand parts, the whole thing should come just under $8-9K and for the money it will piss all over the NA mods put together (whilst retaining excellent driveability) :P

then again i've been known to be a nutcase so my opinion does not necessarily mean jack LoL...

mehhh, my car has a looong way to go before it's prep'd ready for the track LoL

in all seriousness though', you cannot honestly expect to spend 5K on NA mods for the FTO and expect it to go faster in a straightline compared to a turbo...

i ask UAS they said 10k cant even get me a turbo man...
what can i dooo !!!
STEVE ! when is the next cruise??? i've been waiting to go to one for agessssssssssssss
seeing my most loved FTOs all around me :)
so steve what do u think i should spend 5 k on?
i was finkin of gettin the UAS engine pipes and CAi and struct brace and HKS superdragger and the CF bonnet and i ordered a Cwest kit from HK which would be coming in a few weeks time ! (Since u guys didnt want to buy version R bumper so i ordered a Cwest ! wait till u see it !) what else can i get steve? i want to rip typeRs completely !!!
personally i think turboing an fto loses all its original character...might as well go for GTO !
just a thought ! tell me what u think steve ! and tell me when is the next cruise in syd so i can arrange my schedule

*smiles* I will be putting 10K on engine mods one day =P

It's not whether if it was worth it or not, it whether now many times you want to crack your engine open and the labour charges =)

nothing will be as quick and cost effective as a turbo though =)

Unique won't do a turbo kit just yet... there is a huge amount of work involved in it and only want to use my car (becuase of my relationship with them)... basically they know i won't go nuts if anything goes wrong and a rebuild is required....

check the NSW forum for cruise dates we have all of them published...

On the turbo 8-10k is about the right price depending on what parts you use and what sort of boost you want to run....

oh btw i'm talking with a few aftermarket ECU makers to see if they will partner with me to build a FTO specific ECU that will handle mivec and be tuneable... hopefully i will be able to report back something positive in the next few weeks

TW, first of all its good to hear that there are some FTO's in Darwin :D
Second of all the best Supercharger to put on an FTO would be the one from the post 1990 MR2. it'll cost around for 2K and would be the cheapest alternative to a turbo. Thats only price for supercharger and fitting other extras costs more on top, but overall far cheaper than turbo and yet u'll get similar power.
I wish i didnt buy a Tiptronic or else i would have done it myself! :P

damn fto617 i really wanted that series 2 bumper !!
anyway, supercharging the FTO is a really good alternative but not that many people have had the balls to do it.
as i said be4 ask a good workshop about using a post MR2 supercharger u'll get substational gains without spending 10K.

an easy alternative is to do what a few on this forum have done, get a already turbo motor out of another mitsu car.

As you said tip boxes really pull down the FTO down in speed! Its becuase the fto really needs to be near redline to produce a decent bit pf power, and when in second gear its damn tall, which hinders its speed.

Convert to a manual, will transform the FTO into a speed machine.

2k plus i believe.

it wont kill your engine, just drive normally and you'll be right.
