My understanding is that it will stay in 3rd until you stop, at which time it will go to 1st, which provides much smoother deceleration that dropping to 2nd and then 1st.

However, if while decelerating, you then floor it, as long as the revs are low enough the gear box should jump back to 2nd. It will not drop back to 2nd however if in the process of doing so the revs would be too high (over around 6,000rpm from memory).

The exact rev-point at which it down-shifts will also be influenced by your driving style and what the gearbox has learnt.

why do you want the gearbox to go into second? Just an extra annoyance while slowin down.

well, i think it would be nicer to down shift to 2nd gear when you drive it slowly. so that when you turn you dont have to floor the accelerator to get it back to 2nd gear. he.. coz i seldom drive fast.

ah ok that would be nice though. But sometimes the shift from 4th-3rd then 3rd-1st annoys me. I reckon 4th-1st would do me nicely :)

theres one thing you didnt do on sunday...
a lap while smokin with the ciggy out the window...
though the helmet would have made it difficult, but we could have improvised by gettin a drinkin straw, stickin that out the helmet from your mouth and put the ciggy in the end..

WHY didnt we think of this on sunday?
;)
