Recommended Oil to use?
Hey,
Going to change my oil tomorrow and I was wondering what the best oil to use is, and something that isn't an overkill. Any suggestions?
I had a look at few and Mobil 1 looks to be good, but is it an overkill for my car?
cheers

Re: Recommended Oil to use?
hi there,
personally Semi-syn oils like Castrol Magnetic or Vavoline Durablend 10W-40 will be the least you want to put in for your engine. I would suggest Valvoline as there is promotion going on and i believeit carry over to all its range so if you want to go further, try SynPower.
Mobil 1 is great but you could have bought 2 bottles of semi-syn oil change twice as often which ends up even better for your engine.

CHRISTIANITY: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Re: Recommended Oil to use?
Hmm I accidentally purchased Mobile 1 5-30W, no idea what this "W" is but is that good enough for my engine? Or should I return and get a better one?
cheers

Re: Recommended Oil to use?
its quality stuff. engine is running much smoother on it. plus its good for cleaning out the engine as its a bit thinner but has other lubricants added to protect the engine.
less tappet noise from me as well.
its ok for me cos its cold down here so not sure if its ok for melbourneans

Use penrite semi-synthetic 5w-40, its not retardly thin and its safe, if u want an even safer option go the 10w-50. dont go thicker or thinner. 0 weight is just dumb, 15w is getting too thick.

Re: Recommended Oil to use?
if you check on the lube guide on major engine oil companies, all recommends at least of 10W.

This ^
I've just been using Shell Helix Ultra 10w40. Seems to cope with 200+kws without issue.
