Melbourne people - help work on my engine

Post by -Nighthawk- »

Hey,
I want to clean out my tappets with the very thorough DIY posted on baking them in the oven etc etc. although I don't trust myself in taking them out of the engine and doing those methods.

Can anyone in Melbourne give me a hand? (free slab of beer) even if it's to show me a few examples of how to do it :)

Cheers

Have you bought new ones from meek, or are you def cleaning them out. The job isn't hard to do but can be really annoying, it's that type of job that you only ever want to do once.

My advice is to buy some new ones and I can show/help you change them

I read that the replacements are inferior in quality and don't have the same lifespan, any truth to this?

Well cleaning them will start tapping way before aftermarket tappets. I've done both.
