confirmation needed

Post by bushido »

I have a oil leak from under the car. It leaks small patches of oil. I know its a gearbox leak and im pretty sure it is from the passenger side driveshaft seal.

What I want to know is when the mechanic changes the gearbox oil, is there anyway that this leak can be caused? Or it could be a case of the filler/drain hole not being tightened enough. These are on the front of the gearbox arnt they?

I had this problem before and all it took was to change the seal but surely the seal doesnt die after 10000km can it??

It could be shooting out of the dip stick hole as well if it was overfilled.

Where is the dip stick hole for the gearbox? I thought to check the oil level you had to undo the filler bolt then look inside for the height of the fluid?

In any case Ill have a look if there is any more leaking today.

id be guessing crank seal (gearbox side) yes it can leak just like a rear main on commonwhore etc and will find its way dripping down g/box

or try a new bolt/washer

g/box has no dipstick in manual if tip it sit on top of box and may have o-ring that might be damaged where stick sits in housing
