Time for new tools

Well, sionce ive been in aus i've been using some firends old batttered tools and so now i think its time to invest in some quality gear.

I used bahco kit back home but offloaded them to my brother before i left. I have no idea about the tool brands here or wether this is a good price for this kit. Think i saw it in bunnings for $268.

I never have heard of that brand before and for my job I buy tools for the all the staff here, so personally I wouldn't buy it. As for price wise it is very cheap.

My first question would be does it come with a lifetime warranty?

Yea, bahco are a swedish company, i think. They make very good tools for plumbers and such so i know they are good, but can i get anything better for that price.

Well yes you can but the kit may not be as comprehensive. I would be buying 3 seperate kits 3/4 drive socket set, 1/2 drive set and then a set of rachet spanners <------- they are worth their weight in gold

Im hoping it contains most of the sizes needed to do the majority of work on my car with - not sure what the standard sizes are for jap cars.

Def agree with you on the rachet spanners though, might have to look into a set of those to.

8,10,12,14,17,19,21,24 and 31 (i think it is 31 for the stub axle nut)

as for kits well around the home for good quality try kingcrome I use them and never had any issues and price is pretty good

best bet is full 1/2 3/4 and 3/8 socket sets incl deep sockets (very handy), standard spanners and definatly ratchet spanners dont know how i lived without them.
a full screwdriver and hex key set along with decent breaker bar couple of vice grips/ pipe wrench and a few different size shifters.
couple of hammers both soft and mallet style and a must is a long piece of pipe to use as an extension for those bastard nuts.
and a tension wrench, jack and jack stands oh and a multimeter

all that should keep you out of trouble and along with a box for it all will prob cost around the $1500 mark give or take

Bunnings had a full set of Stanley screw drivers for $20, came with I think about 12 or 13 pieces, it wasn't a special, it's something they have all the time, dunno if it's just Victoria though. Bunnings actually had quite a few good sets recently

I bought a new 42 piece socket set (18 normal and 18 deep sockets) at Supercheap today for $120... Now before you judge, this is their "Super Works Gold" range in Chrome Vanadium Steel - comes with a lifetime warranty. Guy said if any piece breaks they'll replace it from their store straight away. Not what you'd expect from tools at Supercheap Auto eh?
