i've noticed over the last week or so, i've got this screeching/whining noise coming from the drivers side of the engine bay.

not sure what it is though, just wanting some opinions?

More than likely your alternator & AC / PS belts. Time for a change.

Check the tensioners they use when you pull them off too.

costly to replace?

tasmania. i could failboat it over to the mainland but i'm pretty sure that would cost more then it would for a mechanic to do it...

Seriously very easy to do your self. a mechanic shou;d only charge you about an hr's worth of labour and just get the belts yourself. $150 tops and you are done.

Well my interstate rate is the same for beer, but must add hookers & coke.

I cant see a mechanic charging you more than 50 bucks to do it. It would literally take him 5 minutes.
