Intake Manifold/Plenum Missing Bolt

Post by elusi0n »

Hey, was just wondering if anyone has 2 spare manifold bolt/nut that i need. The one i need is illustrated below. I was changing the rear spark plugs yesterday and it was getting dark so i started rushing and dropped both of them. They are sitting underneath the injector rails now and i dont really want to remove the injectors to get to them.

The ones in the blue circle are the ones im missing.

Thanks guys.

Well if I was you I would be getting them out. It's not good having bolts floating around the engine like that, they could find there way to your timing belt then you could be saying bye bye to every thing.

If you do, that would be great. Just let me know if you do find some spare and we'll go from there. Thanks Aza :)

No worries Aza, thanks for having a look.

Yeah i think their nuts not bolts sorry and I made sure i didnt drop anything into the motor. I started the engine after everything was put back together with the 2 nuts missing. Everything seems to run fine but im abit worried about the missing nuts. Like Aza said it might find its way to timing belt.

Thanks for the suggestion I8A4RE i'll proberly go buy one those magnetic tools and give it a try. If not i'll have to remove the injectors to find it. :?

Go to your local autoshop and buy one of those magnetic gadgets that work like an aerial for around $10. That should fish your bolts out.

wouldnt be worried about finding its way to cam belt more if they are in one of the heads this will totally destroy your motor valves pistons etc. If it were me I would not have even thought about starting it until I had located them

Nah, I dont think its in the heaqd, but more on the head (below the fuel injection rails). Ive dropped a few nuts there myself. Bugger of a job to get them out.

I see now, you can just remove fuel rail without removing actual fuel line will make it easier to find them

Just a little update on my situation. I got around to finding the 2 nuts that i was missing and now feel at ease when driving my car around :) . Thanks to I8A4RE's suggestion, the magnetic tool helped a lot. Saved me from taking out the injector rails.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys.
