Blown head gasket - New engine

Post by SSKILR »

OK guys, i really need some advice.

My head gasket blew in my 95 gpx the other day and I was quoted $4000ish for cam seals, timing belt, heads etc plus labour. Rather than that I found a whole new engine for sale from adelaide jap dismantlers. I was wondering if anyone has an idea about how much it would be to stick in the car and anywhere around melbourne who are good with ftos?

Thanks heaps for all help :D

$500-$800 to do an engine swap.

Its definitely a smart idea to chuck a 2nd hand engine in rather than rebuild your current as $4000 is way too much. If your after mechanics in your area, better off posting in the victoria section as those guys will be able to help.

Try and PM tarkus and ask him where he used to get his car serviced, he lives in Croydon/Kilsyth, so his mechanic might be closer to you.

mate most of the labour would be changing your timing belt. You prob need it done anyway and all that needs to be done is inlet off rocker off and take the head off.
