I haven't purchased this Complete gasket kit before but i can tell you that it supplied all gaskets and seals from the Head Gaskets up wards
so Head Gasket Seals, Rocker Cover Gaskets, Cam Seals, all of the Intake Manifold gaskets, Spark plug O-ring seals and your other Affiliated Seals and Gaskets if you may Remove/Replace and require a gasket or a seal.
NOTE: This is an Upper Engine Gasket/Seal Kit nothing Lower than the Head Gaskets
VRS do a kit Exactly like this one, It Retails for a MINT
i think when i Inquired i was quoted $430 AUD of course

Yes thats the one, thought it was the same kit you were talking about, didn't need the link as such just looked for the title of the Thread and what your threat contained "Camskill" i put 2 and 2 together and there it was right infront of me
,
But what you see is what you get just as i mentioned in my last post, Do you need a particular part?
Or you just wanted to know what you got?

well it wont be from head gaskekets at least
Try cleaning area first then running car to trace back leak most likely to be cam seals or rocker cover gaskets which are easily availible here

Re: Complete engine gasket set
ok a mechanic did a check on my car concluded that my rear head gasket need to be replaced. Since the top is removed, might as well replace the front head gasket as well.
Parts and labour for this job is nearly 2k where parts quoted $720 for VRS from mitsu oz.
I can get the kit from camskill for just $260 delivered.
and cylinder block head might need to be skimmed? around $120 per head. Is the price alright?

You mean oil? Never seen it coming from head gasket before but certainly from rocker cover

Re: Complete engine gasket set
Agreed, I've never ever heard of oil leaking form a headgasket.
If you want to do them, its cheaper to put in a second hand engine.
The gasket kit will cost you $500 and there'll be at least $1000 on servicing the heads, then add $2000 in labour.
Second hand engine will cost at worst $750 & $500 to put in...

6a12 engine really that cheap? But still would u stillwana change the seals of the second hand engine while it's still outside, just to be safe. Heads skimmed cost about 130 per head and the gasket kit is about 240 from camskill. Labour quoted 1100.

Re: Complete engine gasket set
You sure you wanna just skim them & put them back on??? Everytime I pull a head off I have it serviced properly - replace all valve seals & valve guides, reseat valves etc etc. There's nothing worse than putting a head back on, readjusting 24 tappets, only to realise your oil leak is coming from a shot valve seal as opposed to a blown head gasket...zuihoujueding wrote:6a12 engine really that cheap? $1100 is a reasonable quote for all that work, but I dont reckon they've taken into account the time taken to redo all the timing assembly & tappet adjustment (which have to be done when pulling heads on & off.) Its just me, but I just get the feeling you'll end up with a bill closer to $3500 rather than $1100. They'll always quote cheap to get you in the door....

Re: Complete engine gasket set

I'd be happy to have a look at it for you, but pulling heads off is not something I'd wanna do in my driveway. The car would be there for days whilst we sent them away.
Yeah, keep an eye on ebay for halfcuts (I know there one there for 2.5k which is a rip off) but I've seen them go for a grand or 1200. Best case scenario, if dstocks has one, you should get it for $750.

Re: Complete engine gasket set
Yeah it's a he'll of a job to be done in that environment. I guess allmechanics thinking is " since it's opened up, might as well do this seal, might as well do that gasket." so u will save money on the long run as it's less likely for the new seals to leak anytime soon. And I agree to that, having buying the whole gasket kit is alsocheaper than buying seperately. Ok what I will do now is to get the underside degreaser and washed up and maybe u can help me take a look and hopefully pin point the fault.
