An Email to the RTA

Post by Astron_Boy »

I have jigged around the order so you can read it from top to bottom.
Also edited some of the details for obvious reasons.

Hi
I am curious as to how much longer I am on my P's Riders Liscence. My liscence number is ********, I believe it is mid April, but wish to make sure.
I would contact the RTA by phone, but over the span of 2 phone calls, waited 20 minutes with no response and repetitive voice overs.

Thank you
Dan K

Dear Dan,

Thankyou for your email.

The NSW Roads and Traffic Authority is unable to access and discuss your licence via email.

Please call the RTA Contact Centre on 13 22 13 with the details to discuss with a Customer Service Consultant.

Alternatively, please personally attend a motor registry with your full proof of identification.

Please use the below link for acceptable Proof of Identification documents:

Hi ******

Okay, I don't suppose I really understand, but that's obviously the rules.

As a suggestion then, can these details somehow in the future become available to MyRTA users?

I personally don't appreciate having to wait 20mins in either an RTA Centre or behind a telephone. (I'm sure I'm not alone)
I am able to access a lot more personal records via the RTA website, and yet not notification to when I can attain a full licence...

Thank you
Dan K.

As a list to people who dont know the website, you can:
Find out how many points are left on your licence.
Update your details
Register a vehicle
Change vehicle registration details
and much more.

Yet I cannot find out when my licence can be updated...

It's just easier to drop into the RTA to find out. On another note They never seem to tell you when you can get your full license until your current one is about to expire. That was my experience anyway

also shouldn't you be able to find it out from your license
like with red p's your expiration date is 18 months after you get it, so take 6 months off to see when to go for your greens

Can I go to your RTA?
Cause ALL the ones I've been to have me waiting for F'ing ever, with arrogant and rude know it alls behind the counter and meanwhile, I could have done something better with the 3hrs I spent there.

Can you tell I loathe them much? haha

You can vaguely work out from the licence, but with the RTA, nothing is exact, I go in there 12months to the day, they tell me I have to come back tomorrow or some crap.

As said, I'm waiting an extra month *approx* as I dont have a bike currently anyway, just demonstrating to those who dont know the RTA how well they work..... *cough*

It's not difficult to work out. Isn't it something like your licence expiry date minus 6 months?

And if that is too difficult for you, just try booking your test. Book it, and then (at no charge) keep moving it forward until it tells you your licence conditions haven't been met - that's the date :D

Oh and the reason why they won't give it out over email; just too insecure. If you've ever received some well crafted spam you'll know what I mean...

the rta near where i live is like that to massive waits, however if you pick the right time (usually mid-week late morning) it tends to quite down to a 30 minute wait or so
