Thought I would add this for the minority.
Driveshafts:
The 5spd tip driveshaft is different from the 4spd tip driveshaft.
the CV which goes into the gearbox has a longer arm than the 4spd.
If you get a 4spd shaft and put it onto a 5spd inner cv, the knuckles will be off by XX amount of mm's that will cause the gearbox to act like it has a broken diff (very scary)
The ABS ring is also slightly different, and if a 4spd cv is used in the wheel end, (which is possible) your ABS light will stay on.
In the end, simply get your original shaft reconditioned unless you know the shaft that is replacing your existing one is IDENTICAL.
Car spent the best part of 8hrs in a million different forms and fashions trying to get the shaft done, for in the end, it simply getting rebuilt.
A note for 5spd tip owners!

Haha, and let me complicate the issue even further...
The manual driveshafts are also different to the 4 & 5 spd tips.
The LSD driveshafts are also different to both the manual & tip variants.
There are also 2 different types of inner CV joints, one with 25 spline, 1 with 27.
The outer CV's are also different (toothed) for those with ABS.
Any of the above combinations of both splines & driveshafts were used indescriminately by Mitsubishi.
Oh & your left is a different length to your right in any of the above combo's too
So in summary, total different driveshaft count according to CAPS / ASA is about 32

So what you're saying is that I was really f**king lucky when I went and found a 4 speed tip FTO and said gimme that driveshaft assembly and it went together ok?Bennoz wrote:Haha, and let me complicate the issue even further...

I didn't need a shaft, LOL
The noise ended up.... well I hope, it's simply a wheel bearing.
I had a 'swooshing' noise that only occured on left hand corners, and so assumed driveshaft, the noise slowly became worse, and so figured the joint was becoming dry, bought a shaft from dstocks, assuming 4s were the same as 5s, and found out in the end, the shaft was fine, just needed new boots and a repack
