Air Con Condensor

Post by dj_ules »

Hey guys i just pulled out my air con condensor.. my air con has not been working for a few years.. when i went to get it re gas'd there was no pressure.
please look over my pics and tell me if i need a new air con condensor.. on one side there seems to be a dent in the piping im not sure if its leaking from there but it looks ok ... and one of the other side the piping is a little bent.
and the main pic of the condensor its a bit damaged on the bottom.. (will that affect it )
thanks for input..

Get a second hand off dstocks. You could get it tested but you could probably get one off dstocks for that price

Got the exact same problem, are you able to weld a new pipe onto it if it's cracked?

you can but for the effort and probably the price it would be easier cheaper to get a secondhand one off dstocks

Yeah, that condensor looks rooted (the connecting pipes are twisted to buggery - which is the most common place for them to fracture.) If you find a replcement somewhere cheap, let me know. The misses car needs one as well.

To remove it, you dont even have to take the radiator out, just take to 2 top brackets off it & push it towards the engine. In behind it, you'll see the condensor. Undo any lines attached to it & there's a couple of rubber mount points towards the top of it that need undoing too. Jiggle it towards the radiator & up. It'll come free with a bit of elbow grease.

Hmm I don't think it's the condenser that's broken on mine, it's this thing outlined in the pics:
Is this an easy / cheap fix?

Thats the receiver / dryer unit. Looks like a poor connection to it... not to mention the bit of rubber hose used to block a leak on the pipe that goes from it to the firewall.

Pretty sure I've posted up the part number for the receiver dryer before. Its a generic nippon denson Mitsubish thing.

My car has had a few dodgies :( I've fixed most of them now.

Anywhere where I can source that part? Can't find it anywhere :\
