Hi guys

I need help.

I was compression testing my engine (in the car, just out of curiosity) and I can't get the tester out of the spark plug hole.

The problem started like this: the tester a rubber hose with a generic connection and then some adapters. I performed the test and was happy. I removed the rubber hose and started putting the spark plugs back but the adapter stayed. i didn't notice till it was too late and the adapter is now torqued up.

In a moment of brainlessness I then decided to add super glue to the rubber tubes generic adapter rather then find a reverse threaded bolt to fit.

Now everything is stuck. Any suggestions?

well that was bit dumb can you put up a pic of what you done?

so you have plug torqued up on pressure test connector and lead now glued over plug?

So, the adapter is torqued up where the spark plug should be. The rubber tube with its metal threaded connector is glued in to the adapter.

I am thinking I need something like this:



The problem is that hammering the aluminum tube into shape isn't strong enough. So I am now going to see if I can get something fabricated. Any other suggestions or recommended fabrication shops are welcome.

I can't think of anything but I think you're on the right lines with the last picture. Put another tube through the top of that one so it's sort of like a 'T' shape for extra grip but guessing you're way ahead of me on that one. GL!

Yeah, if you look at the left end of the tube, there is a hole in it. That is so I can pass a bolt through it.

yeah onto the right thing there
if all else fails try cutting rubber then drill out using ezy out

but be carefull not too damage any threads esp while hammering tubing on

I now have a steel tube which is nice and strong but I can't find anybody that can fabricate a plate that could interface to the stuck adapter.

Does anyone know if a 2 part epoxy would work?

Man what a pickle, you have found yourself in.

Personally i wouldnt be putting any sort of glues down there it may end up going where you dont want.

I would go along the lines of finding pipe that is about the same size or .5mm smaller than adapter and then get a hammer and light tap over adapter, maybe even a socket would work. Along the lines of what you were thinking in the bottom picture

The other thing to be careful of is u don't get any bits of metal down in the chamber...

When u say u torqued the spark plug, this should only be wrist tight. Can't u get a screwdriver down beside the adapter and lever it around on the knurled grip.

Maybe take one of the adapters to a bolt or tool shop (maybe Total Tools) and see if they have a socket that might grip it.
