This could potentially mean even more demand for imports like the FTO and hopefully pushes the value of our cars up, with one less choice to consider if you're in the market for a car in that class.

But it also now means the gap between performance and non-performance cars are even wider. But if there's non demand for them anyways, nothing will probably change much.

Actually that would make it easier to bring the real type R into australia as an grey import.

If that's possible, I guess you could then argue that the Jap-spec S15 Spec R is in the same category? I didn't think you could import these under the new SEVS ruling though.

Someone posted a link the other day, to the website with all the cars you can import under SEVS, did you check that listing?

That list wouldn't have the Type R in it, as its still availible in Oz at the moment.

But even with the new SEV in place, i've still see lots of "non-listed" car getting on the road, & they not pre-compliance (before SEV in place)

Let just say its like GST, it mean to stop all those dodgy tax cheat people, but now it end up tjeres more dodgy tax cheat shops in Oz.

So look out boys, there should be loads of new cars coming our way!!!!

you have never been able to privately import a car which is sold in australia (unless you owned it overseas for at least 12 months).

Yeah i already know that steve, but theres lot of holes in the SEVS legislation. I've seen it done, so i know it can be done.
