Passenger window won't go down + CLS faulty

Post by -Nighthawk- »

Hey,
Currently have a few problems with my FTO. First of all the passengers electric window will not go down (on both buttons) and I'm too afraid to take it apart as the central locking system is attached to this and don't think I'll be able to put it back together myself to see the problem.

Second problem is the central locking is not always working, pressing the button does nothing I have to manually open the door (in which the alarm goes off) then after 5 seconds of continuously pressing the button it turns off. Happens about once a week.

I would like to temporarily disconnect the central locking system myself but it's attached to the engine and I know I will screw something up. Don't have much free time to take it to the mechanics :(

Can anyone help?

dead motors, common problem with mitsi's of that era, easy to fix, DIY or 10 minute job at an auto electrician.

For the window, check the child lock button isn't on (small square black plastic button just in front of the drivers side window controls.)

For the central locking, as Schumie mentions, the motors in the locks are notoriously weak. You can replace / retrofit them with aftermarket units that are available from any auto shop.

Here's the how-to:

Oh god it turns out it was childlock, I thought that button was for the mirrors :P haha thanks

I would prefer to get the entire system disconnected with a new one fitted actually, that and I only have 1 remote which may cause some hassles if I loose it :\

How much would it cost roughly to get a mechanic to disconnect and reconnect a new system (including costs of new system ($120?)

Cheers
