Is it at full running temp? as it won't go into mivec if cold.

was always curious, how long does it take for the engine to reach optimum temp?

At least 10 minutes. And a further 10 for your gearbox oil to reach operating temp.

    Engine hit MIVEC when I had the car running without any issues. I'm thinking it's not warm? I was told by a mechanic that the detonation sensor was to blame for the running rich. If it's not that... I have no idea, since I replaced the O2 sensor, spark plugs, ignition leads and fuel filter.

    Could be alternator as well. But im tending to agree with everyone else that it probably hasnt got to engine temp yet

    public computers rule lol :)

    hmm that would make sense cause ive never run it for more than 3 or 4 minutes
    bit scared i might damage it as its spitting some? out the exhaust, when i first start it its fine but idles pretty rough, after about 30 seconds or a minute it starts to spit and idle gets a little worse ... maybe fuel pressure regulator?

    would take it to a mechanic but all the ones around here dont even know what an fto is lol and the only one that is capable of working on it is a dickhead

    so mivec question is answered - thanks heaps

    next question - spitting fuel? water? and running rough

    thanks for all the help so far :)
    mivec thing was worryin me a bit lol
