hey fellas
i'm looking to buy an aftermaket air filter for my '95 GR and was wondering on your opinion on the apexi power intake because i quite like to look of this little beauty

i saw one on this site for $135 which is another reason for asking your thoughts :D
http://www.modyourcar.com.au/product_in ... cts_id=511

1.Do you think this is a good price?
2.Is this the same version as the one on other sites asking for over $250?
3.Which version would I have to get to fit in my GR(65mm, 75mm, or 85mm)?

Thanks.

Yeah that is a pretty good price. Usually it's above the $200 mark.

If I were you, I would find out what the part numbers are between the 2 different priced filters.

If I remember correctly, I think with the GR (using the MAF sensor), the range of pod filters is more limited. But performance wise, you should try to get some heat shielding for the pod, as the filter element would be very much exposed to the heat from the engine bay.

FTOOC.org did a air filter test. Have a read:

You may not get much response to this topic as air filters have been covered many times.

As a tip for a newbie, do a search in this forum before posting a question as chances are there will already be a thread with the information you are after or where you can add your question.

If you do a search for "air filter" in this forum you will find a lot of information which could be of value to you.

thanks ruchi for the tip...I did a search on "air-filters", "apexi power intake" and "GR air filters", read everything that came up in the results - even the ones that had nothing to do with what i'm after (bloody interesting & addictive reads in'ere :) )
...but couldn't find anything on whether if I buy this thing, it will fit on a GR - with the MAS sensor (thanks D-TRAIN for pointing out) and all

I'd love to know what types of PODs will fit a GR?????please

Nonetheless, I might just buy a nice OE style one and drill holes in the bottom of the standard box :P

Thanks for the help

my car is equipped with an Apex'i pod filter so if you like i can come over to your place sometime next week for a 'demo' hehe... i love the induction roar on this baby, and Shannon (Jester) can vouch for it too...

btw you got yourself a good price there - nice find... ;)

ok the gr has a sensor at the end of the pipe which made air filter selection difficult for me, I found an adaptor plate which i can get the specs on if u like, it makes fitting any podfilter easy, What i did is went to unique and they sized everything up and worked out what would fit, you are proberbly best to go to a large motororsports mechanic with all the parts in stock and find the ones that fit and which ones you like. I went for a simota filter which i was sceptical at first beeing a bit of a no frills brand, but steve said they are good and it was backed up on the dyno with over a 6.5kw increase

hey...
it looks good, which mm one are you going to get? Im assuming you need the 85mm? have you checked whether it comes with an adaptor plate specific to the FTO??? or do you think it will fit snuggly as is?
