been at the drags

Post by nvr2low »

hey guys just been down at the street meet drag racing. Went and had a lot of fun and meet some great people.

i ran a best of 14.5 and the mph was not working so i dont know but i got to 150km an hour on the gauge lol. i have the time sheets and some good video footage which i will all put up when i get it all soon.

The main problem was the fact i couldnt get any traction in 1st and 2nd the car just wheelspinned and in 3rd took off like a rocket.
i beat a xr6 turbo and a v8 awd crewman and a wrx. i lost to my mates vr4 galant he ran a 13.4.

if you wanna run slicks, make sure your drivetrain is in top condition as they will show up any weakness, including cv joints, gearbox, clutch etc.

have a look at these ones :- http://www.federaltire.com/en/html/pdet ... ine=3&ID=3

I think they are around the $250 each but well worth the money.

sweet as man. I am still looking at getting a interceptor if I can find one for the right price buddy. This is so I can run higher boost and lean the fuel out and get those kw up their and better fuel economy.

I already got the brakes for the car man. I want the power for the car 2 and then I can buy the tryes just for the drags.

If you plan to run a higher boost setup on your current tyres it might be a problem. You'll have to run a mild boost setup Id say just so that your ftos every-day drivability is not lost.

Then when you wanna go to the track, just up the boost and put on some slicks

Does the car have LSD ?

I wouldn't be so quick to jump on semis, know what you want out of the car etc. Just think everytime you take your car for a spin, it'll take at least 10 mins to get the semis to a reasonable temp.

I recently swapped the re-01rs off my line and put on michelin pilot sport ps2.. fairly happy with the choice. Was making too many short trips and the re-o1rs were just going to waste.

You say you'll run the semis for track only, but after you get a taste of them, you'll be sorely tempted to leave it on for everyday.

Also with semis you gotta be much quicker to respond and know your car very well.

Some food for thought. Good to see you getting the car out there man.

I'd be more concerned with suspension that anything else.

You got adjustables in the car? If so, you should wind the rear ones up as a far as they go, also overinflate the rear tyres to 50psi. That will stop the rear end bogging down on launch as it does on all FWD's.

Do the opposite to the fronts & soften both shocks & front tyres down to 20psi.

That'll improve your launches & hence your 60 foot times.... which in drag racing, is everything.

LSD would help too.

yeah I agree I have to get my suspension sorted I don't run coilovers just shocks and springs.
I would love lsd but it is expensive and I don't have a gearbox rebuilder in darwin that is good.
