FTOAU changes please read and comment
Hey guys,
We are about to do a large upgrade to the site amongst fixes (lost usernames, gallery being restored) the following changes are proposed please comment
AND KEEP ON TOPIC!
FORUM CHANGES:
Each state gets:
* Cruise | State specific forum
* Spotted Forum
Tasmania gets its own forums
Western Australia gets it own forums
NEW FORUMS:
* FTO Help Forum - help me with my FTO
CLASSIFIEDS
The site will shortly have classifieds section with WTB included and the forums will be closed. Car Sales will be included in this.
NOT-GOOD-ENOUGH
a notgoodenough forum is going to be created. Posts here will be moderated.
Basically you can post, however your post will not be "approved" to go up until the company you have laid a complaint about has had a chance for "right of reply" this means that once you submit a complaint the FTO Club of Australia will contact the supplier and offer them the chance of reply on your behalf. They will be given the options of:
a.) fixing your complaint
b.) a written submission on the problem and why they are not at fault.
The delay will be seven days, if they choose to respond or not the post will be published after seven days. If they decide to fix the problem the post will still be published however there will be a note advising how the supplier rectified the problem.
If there is anything else we should add please comment quickly so I can include this in the upgrades.
thanks and regards

Sounds good Steven,
Don't you think that having a spotted forum under every state is a bit too much... Only the NSW, and VIC ones will be the most used...
Also are you doing anything about the problem with themes that a number of ppl including myself have had?
I think we should delete member profiles that haven't been online for more that a year or so, after we first contact them... maybe... probably not possible though...
I think the forums are good as they are, but i'm still welcoming change.
Just me 2 cents

I assume we will still keep ICE / Styling / Performance / Gibberish Cnr etc??
oh, i wouldn't mind having a 100x100px 30kb avatar size either
ummm, also how about a quick reply window (rather than clicking on the 'Reply' or 'Quote' button)... it will save heaps of time for dialup users who want to reply to a post/thread (without the need to wait for a new page to be loaded)
Just my 2c...

I like the notgoodenough idea, this is something that has been discussed before in threads and I think it would be very infomative. As I have said previously a lot of times I have driven into a workshop the dollar signs seem to pop up in the mechanics eyes
On the flip side - do you think it would also be a help to have a thread called something like "evenbetter" or something, for service providers who go above and beyond the call of duty. I know this can be a bit subjective, as the young good-looking chick may get better service than say the older not-so-good-looking lady all based on the fact that most mechanics are male (no offence guys!).
Anyway just a thought. I know how hard it is to find good places to go and how easy it is to find place that are not up to scratch and I think we all need to share the good stuff as well.
My 0.181818 cents plus GST!

Steve sound good buddy...
Dont kill me if this is a little bit of topic..
One thing that members could do is when they go for service's or buying product from suppliers, they could mention that they are from FTO Australia and that they might post the results of the service they received onto the site.. That way they may not try to scam anyone as the results would be public (no-one wants bad publicity) and if they do a wizz bang job they would probably get more business thru positive publicity...
Not sure if that's a dumb idea or not
what do you all think...

The thing about the wa having it's own forum.
There is one already available, are you talking about that or another one??
I'm a member of both. They both supply good information but since WA is far away from the east, being seperate is a good idea. We still are proud of being FTO AUSTRALIA members, but also like the support we got locally.
My 2 cents.

How about a BIO section... like the "introduce yourself" thread...
but this time, there's a template that can be filled out... name, location, age; hobbies; country of origin; notes; etc...
and a spot for 2 fav. pics of their car and themselves
so we know what they and their rides look like...
and Im sure many ppl here would be happy to host those pics.
this would make FTO OZ more like a family feel and although not everyone usually makes it to cruises.. we have faces to names
and if it can be done, sorted by username...
is this possible

Steve could sell tickets for those who want to watch and make a fortune!

It could be like gladiator with the participants choosing "to the death" or "to the first cut"

What about a section where people can donate money to me...
*Thinks me gonna get burnt for that one*
Mikey 'BitchFest' sounds good to me....
Seriously I like the sound of the Bio section, make it easier for people to know where everyone is located as I've noticed that a lot of people have not got their 'location' listed below their avatar, it would makes it a lot easier for when people ask for service/product locations if their own location was known first...
Ps. feel free to seen me donations...

I also think Kazbah has a great idea with her even better forum. Again - to stop this becoming clogged, it could be run the same way with members "submitting" their post to the moderators for posting.
That's my WHOLE 2 cents worth - rounded up to 5cents in this current ecomonic climate.....

I also like the sound of everything.
For the bio section, couldn't we just modify the current module for member profiles? So that we can upload pictures to it and even have some more informative fields!!
I guess it's up to Gav to decide how he is going to go about it, if he's keen on the programming...
I like the idea of the good enough section, but don't you guys think that most of the time the people in the shops treat everyone diffrent?
Just like kazbah said...
For example male/female or dressy/bogan... I guess it revolves around the actual finished product...
Maybe we should get another person to confirm it etc.... or i guess we could just see how it goes...
I think this applies to the not good enough section too but not as much...
Just some ideas.
