help! legal size for Steering Wheels?

Post by xdryheartx »

hey guys i got pull over today and got a fined for having a small steering wheel,i thing it was 320mm lol so far this is what i found out about the legal size steering wheels for qld

Steering Wheels
Not smaller than 330mm

It’s no secret that after several years, factory steering wheels can get quite worn and dated, and replacing them with new sportier versions is common. However, once again, certain limitations apply. A steering wheel cannot be reduced by more than 25mm from the factory steering wheel size but must not be less than 350mm*. If a steering wheel is fitted with an airbag, it cannot be replaced or removed with an aftermarket steering wheel. Finally, every car must have a working horn, so having a horn button is also a requirement.

so just wondering if i get a steering wheel 350mm looking at some on ebay lol am i all good??cause i dont know the factory steering wheel size lol and yeh can anyone help meXD

My wheel is 325mm & I dont really care.

Its one of those laws thats really only enforced if you are an asshole to the copper or if the wheel you have is rediculously small. You wont find any 350mm aftermarkets wheels.

quite interested in this aswell.

Im also in the market for a new steering wheel and quick release unit. That aside, i think ben is right. If its one of those rediculously small looking wheels then you might get caught but down here in nsw ive never heard of anyone getting done for wheel size, more so on the airbag issue.

Im pretty sure my isotta steering wheel is less than 350mm. Never had an issues with it. Its not common for a cop to take a look at your steering wheel with a tape measure in hand, just unlucky i guess.
