they polish up pretty good, depends how much time you want to spend doing it. im sure you could get it looking like new.

that sucks dude

i doubt your insurance company would pay for another headlight. Maybe say you have to use headlights in the same condition becuase the brightness will be uneven or something, doubt theyd fall for that though.

im sort of in the opposite position as you, my left headlight is pretty new but my right is peeling and cracking pretty bad :/

Lol that's the problem Katie, they could not find a second-hand facelift headlight anywhere, that's why they bought the new one.

What's the cost of your panel beater buying a new headlight to the replace the faded one?
That way you can get it cheaper and have the effect you're after...

Then just sell the faded one at half the price.

Just a thought.

yeah, insurance will not pay for the 2nd light. don't bother, saves everyone time.

in everyone insurance PDS there's the "...we do not cover devaluation due to an accident..." or "...we do not cover for consequential loss..."

I remember seeing new FTO headlights for sale on ebay, alternatively, maybe dstocks can order you one from japan...

You are lucky to get a new headlight ..

Most insurance company's will try to screw the panel beater and say we will only give you $250 + exchange ...

Hey Dwayne .. What are the condition of the ebay ones ... :?:

I wanted to get 1, maybe even 2 depending on cost ... Only cause when you light mine up, you can see a fair amount of imperfections on the inside of the lens...
I just had to add it ......

Wtf, of course they're not going to replace something that isn't broken.

It also won't decrease the value of the car on sale and that receptionist is in the right.

Good luck fighting that insurance company. :thumright:

Dan25 wrote:@ Rock it - I'm not lucky, they just couldn't find a second-hand one. If they could have found it, they would have given it to me lol. Besides, like I said, I intially told them I didn't want brand new anyway.

Well I'm not just going to swap my brand new headlight with someone just yet (Do you even have a facelift one Simon?). I'm going to get those guys from GT Glass Technology to come out and repair my old one for me because apparently they can get it back to perfect condition. If, for some reason that doesn't work, then I will consider selling it and getting an older one...
i own a facelift, i thought they were the same, and you are lucky!!
do you have any idea how much they are new??

Lol, dude, a light is a light. I don't give a f**k if it is brand new or 12 years old. All I wanted is for them to match.

You make it sound like you wouldn't disclose that information to the potential buyer.
