The GX superceded the GR. Its the facelifted GR.

Still non mivec, but has about 10 more hp & some minor suspension changes.

intetrestingly enough though, the GR and the GX were available at the same time for a while though, so it didnt directly supercede.

yeah other than that, the only differance is the updated interior, VR wing and facelift front... so the park lights were in the headlight not the fog (driving) lights

It still is a supercession, they build a load of GX models for (example) MY 2006, but they still have MY 2005 model GR's in stock, of course they aren't going to recall the remaining GR's just to sell GX's.

I work *loosely* with Ford atm, this happens all the time. An absolute ass to deal with in Ford's sh*t hole business model IMO.

I have a manual 97 facelift GR. I can pull away from a tip GPX. Could this mean I actually have a GX. The 10 extra horsepower would make sense. Any way to find out?

If you got the GR sticker... its a GR... also, again the "AERO" (VR) rear wing... its only on the GX... (And VR)

im not surprised your manual will pull away from a tip... remembering that A) manuals lose less 'HP' than an auto... and the GPX motor is the same as the GR except the mivec, which wont kick in till 5500rpm anyway, by that time your in 3rd gear in a manual and 30m infront...

other than that, check the build stamp and stock code.
