Just today when changing through the gears and starting to accelerate through the revs there is a real bad buzz like an angle grinder or an electric shaver.
Any ideas.? Im real desperate
Well I gathered all my courage and rolled the FTO down the road ... no noise ... thought I'd get some speed up and sure enough there we go. It looks like it can still be driven, however the noise is still there. Between 2000RPM and 2500RPM to be exact, every time without fail. If I accelerate faster through that range then the noise goes faster and disappears at the 2500RPM mark sure enough, every time.
Now although it can be driven this concerns me a lot. I checked under the car as well as around the tires and there is nothing hanging or coming in contact.
Another forum on here discusses this in depth but never comes to any resolution. They describe the noise as like poking a playing card into a fan or a turning bicycle wheel.
To me it sounds like its coming from behind the dashboard. A passenger describes it as being in the bottom of the center console/to the right of their feet.
Seriuosly without hearing it, it could be a million different things.
Does the noise happen when you rev the car at said revs or just when your moving?
CHRISTIANITY: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
So jack the car up, put axles stands under. then get someone to get in the car and keep revs between 2k and 2.5k while you get under neath with a torch and see where its coming from.
Im guessing its a heat sheild from the exhaust

I don't have the equipment to do that so I will have to get it booked into somewhere. I have a feeling a mechanic is going to just be having stabs in the dark however.

Yes it was on when I first noticed it and got progressivly louder. I thought it may have been a scratched cd at first its a bit like what it sounded like but no as I described it above I knew that mustn't have been it.
I'm at work at the moment but I will check when I get home. If I do (i think it might) it will only be a really basic jack I'll have to see if it can do the job or not then.
I8A4RE, Bennoz - thanks heaps for the advice, I knew that the heat shield was a possibility but in my pessimism thought it was going to be much much worse ...
Turned out it was just a bit loose and that was all, so I'm now back on the road. Cheers guys.
