Cooling System

Post by topao »

just got my car back from the mechanic and he said my cooling system needs to be replaced as my hoses are very hard :o (Meaning the only parts that need replacing are the hoses as i just did the waterpump)

has anyone had this done before?
is it easy or hard?
or the question that i really want answered is how much would it cost approx??

Yeah they may have been using "non-car-literate" speak for telling you the hoses are cram full of rust and crap. Makes hoses very hard. If you aren't trusting of them though, why did you get the water pump replaced? Had it seized or corroded internally?

Replacing them is a good idea depending on why the water pump was replaced

i was doing a full service including timing belt and gave them a water pump to replace. They showed me the old one and it had started to rust and corode, it wasn't spinning as well as it should be and wouldnt have been long until it had Seized up.

Perhaps replace them, may be a good DIY for you. Isn't too difficult if you have some mechanical aptitude and can get to them all :)
