climate control has a mind of its own

Post by Cassf88 »

if i start the car at 19 degrees n turn it up to 20.5 the air con sometimes turns on. after i switch the car off n start it up again the fan will speed up automatically n the bars that show the fan speed also start to appear until i interupt n press the down button... any ideas? it doesnt always happen but its not during hot or cold days or anything like that- just whenever

That usually happens when its set to 'Auto' temp control. Just push the temp nob in once or twice to cancel the 'auto' mode.

I have another question about that sensor...

What are the chances of re-routing it (and upgrading it of course) into the intake air stream? I mean, I really don't give a f**k what the outside temperature is :o

Could be useful to see what my intake air charge temp is

Thats quite a good idea, I was thinking of setting a completely different one for my intake but thats even better. I guess you could just dismount the sensor from its present location and IF the wiring is long enough, re-route it to the airbox. Might actually serve a purpose then. :?

Yeah i have been thinking about this for a while but just another one of those projects i have no time for lol.

It would be extremely easy to do but i would also remove the factory temp sensor and get one from dicksmith (or the like) and it would be far more acurate

Yeah, there is no way the standard one would handle the intake temperature OR the intake pressure (I want it in the IC piping before the throttle body, but before the BOV too)[/b]

Can you borrow a spare from one of the Vic guys & swap it out to test? Its not hard to get out, only 1 plug.

When it does this does the temp automatically revert back to 25degrees? Or does it stay at the same temp as you had it on last?

Either way i think it is a faulty control module
